EMS is delighted to announce that after an extended evaluation period Tarmac has selected i-MO to provide data communications at an initial twenty remote and temporary locations.
The i-MO units will be used to provide data communications between site weighbridges and Tarmac's distribution systems at their data centre in Buxton, Derbyshire. The i-MO appliances will also allow site personnel to access Tarmac applications, e-mail etc. i-MO units are being deployed by Tarmac to replace basic GPRS routers which are unsuitable for use at some locations.
According to Lee Beech, IT Infrastructure Manager, Tarmac selected i-MO in preference to alternative 3G router and satellite based solutions for a number of reasons:
“We liked the fact that EMS had a clear focus on construction industry requirements which was reflected in both the i-MO product and in the support and logistics available from EMS. Technically the resilience and performance available from i-MO was superior to other router solutions as i-MO offers the ability to bond two data channels together. Our i-MO units can additionally be configured to support a secure VPN link and provide added value functionality including print server and traffic shaping / optimisation capabilities."

Commenting on the decision Andrew Lambert, Managing Director at EMS said:
“We're delighted to have secured this vote of confidence in i-MO from an industry leader such as Tarmac, particularly given the intensive testing against alternatives which they undertook ahead of the decision. We look forward to helping Tarmac provide their sites with reliable access to business critical applications."
